It looks pretty good imo, you can still see some supra mkIV heritage in the front bumper.

The most important thing is how it drives and hopefully it isn't super fat.

Maybe they'll hopefully offer it in the future?

All I know is that the B58 can make some power and reliably, hopefully with the toyota enthusiasts on board more aftermarket companies can hop on board and push the B58 platform ahead. For what I know the JDM community is willing to spend way more money on parts than the bmw crowd (super cheap) imo.

I for sure like the B58 and I'm not concerned about the power potential here.

Could you imagine if BMW made an M3 and it was a reskinned Toyota product with a Toyota motor? Everyone would lose their minds. The Germans have too much pride to do that anyway.

I'm sort of used to it with the Brz/frs/gt86 set of cars, where two manufacturers built one car.

Overall I wasn't really a super huge Supra fan, I was more on the gtr side of things, and here in Canada where we don't have a 25 year import law (just 15) we have a bunch of R34 gtrs and rhd Japanese vehicles. So that's pretty cool since I get to see alot of them daily.

I just hope the new Supra is a success so Toyota can have a nice sports car again, and I'm glad they didn't pull a Nissan and Honda/Acura and release an over 6 figure car (to my knowledge based on current rumours I've read anyways).

I hope it succeeds but the R35 GTR is a better execution of the GTR than the MKV Supra is of the Supra.

I'd prefer a $100k Supra to this Toyota Z4.

I agree with the GT-R bit. But maybe they should do it like Honda is where the gt86 is the budget end car, have a mid range car, and then toss over the Supra badge to Lexus to make LFA level super car.

The r35 gtr is sweet, but it's really really big compared to the R34 and especially the r32. Hey sticky maybe you should pick an r32 gtr up, they're over 25 years old now.

I agree on the R35's size but it proved to be potent and almost defied physics. I couldn't believe the numbers in the early days.

The R32 is cool but GTR's really aren't my thing. I have tremendous respect for the I6 though and that was one thing I criticized them moving away from but I doubt anyone cares now with what they are doing.

The RB26 was a great motor, but it lacked displacement and when compensated with extra boost would cause the block (even billet ones) to warp (over 40psi+ with extreme drag racers the aussies are notorious for pushing these RB's to the max). So to solve this a higher displacement motor such as a V shaped engine would be a better choice as it would be more compact that an inline motor would (inlines would have to be wider and taller to acomodate for the extra displacement which isnt really good for space). So the switch over the the VQ imo is a really smart move, you gain 1.2L of extra displacement and the space and weight gain isn't that bad, factoring in the twin turbo + twin intercooler setup. Now you have more torque down low and the potential to push harder surpassing the 2000whp mark which wasn't at all common in the RB engine series.

In regards to the weight yeah I didn't think it was possible either, but the head nissan engineer said the high weight made the car more stable at higher speeds.

Overall I think the next generation GTR should keep the V6 and move to a 4.0L or 4.2L motor, or switch to a low displacement V8 with at minimum a 4.2L displacement, and it would be nice if it could rev to 8000rpm+.
