The Brits at Autocar did a drag race between three very desireable and high performance cars. Of course, as it is Autocar they do not provide any meaningful drag race data but I suppose we should all just be grateful they did not do this drag race in the rain on a damp track like they normally do.

The cars are very different from each other. The 458 Speciale has one of the best naturally aspirated V8's ever made. It is naturally aspirated though which means it is more difficult to squeeze power out of it than its boosted competition and also that it has less torque. Even without turbos it is an incredibly powerful motor (with 14.0:1 compression!):

The Ferrari and the McLaren 650S do share similarities as both are rear wheel drive with dual clutch transmissions and mid-engine layouts. The McLaren has more power and torque than the Ferrari however. Despite Ferrari's claims the 650S is actually the lighter car by roughly 150 pounds depending on options.

The Nissan GTR less power than either of the mid-engine exotics but it has more torque than the Ferrari thanks to its boosted V6 and it benefits from all wheel drive. This all wheel drive is what gets it the victory in the first run.

They race twice and on the second race the McLaren takes the victory with a better launch plus the driver does not hit the limiter on the second try. It is not surprising the McLaren is the quickest and fastest of the trio. Especially considering the 650S has no trouble with the newer and faster turbocharged Ferrari 488GTB.

It would be nice to have real data from all three cars but again as this is Autocar's video we should be happy with what we get.
